Birth of BPRA |

|
Admittedly, the
establishment of Public Relations as a profession is a recent affair in
Bangladesh. In fact, the concept of Public Relations started blooming
after the emergence of Bangladesh as a sovereign country in 1971. In the
beginning of 1979, some of the prominent Public Relations professionals of Bangladesh
realized the |

importance of
establishing an association to enhance the quality of this
profession.They met at several places
|
including the
National Press Club and finalised their decision to create an
association. Some of the people who played the key role in this regard
are: Mr. Syed Nuruddin, Mr. Jahirul Islam, Mr. Ahmed Jamal, Mr.
Rakibuddin Ahmed, Mr. Majibur Rahman Bhuiyan, Mr. Abdul Khaleque Bhuiyan,
Mr. Faizur Rahman, Mr. Faizul Kabir, Mr. Md. Nurul Islam at all. The
people who provided motivation behind this effort with suggestions and
advice are: Mr. Jahur Hussain Chowdhury, Mr. Khairul Kabir and Mr. Abdul
Wahab.

After a long stream of effort, discussions and activities, Bangladesh
Public Relations Association (BPRA) at last started it's journey
and officially came into existence through it's first National
Conference at Hotel Purbani International held on 22 July 1979. The then
Deputy Prime Minister of the Bangladesh Government Prof. A Q M
Badruddoza Chowdhury was present as the chief guest while the then
Minister of Information & Broadcasting Mr. Habibullah Khan came as the
special guest. |

attended the conference upon special invitation. Mr. Syed Nuruddin
presided over while speeches were given by Mr. Md. Nurul Islam, Mr.
Ahmed Humayun (the then President of Bangladesh Federal Union of
Journalists), Mr. Obayed-ul-Huq (the then editor of Bangladesh Observer)
and Mr. Jahur Hussain Chowdhury (eminent journalist and public relations
expert). |

Aims and Objective of BPRA |
|
|
|
|
The aims and objective of the organization are as follows: |
|
|
|
a) |
To keep each other well-informed regarding the development and
advancement of self profession as well as exchange of views on
everybody's interest who are involved in this work as Forum or Spokesman
of all employed in Public Relation as nonpolitical professional
organization. |
|
b) |
To create awareness regarding the role of Public Relation and public
interest as profession or work as well as to increase trust about its
necessity in the minds of the people. |
|
c) |
To improve their professional level, save status and enhance
capabilities who are employed in Public Relation as well as to store
dignity and enlargement of this profession. |
|
d) |
To help the employees employed in Public Relation in this working lives
abide by generally approved Activity Rules and Principles. |
|
e) |
To increase wishes understanding and co-operation amongst all members
and at the same time journalists and the representatives of the Media
related with brotherhood of Public Relation. |
|
As the described aims and objectives as above this
association can adopt any work steps as follows:
- Public Relation related Workshop, Seminar,
Speech and programs
- Building and caring of libraries
- Magazines publishing
- Arranging cultural parties for members
- creating opportunities for training and
giving scholarship and pension for educational professional training or
educational scholarship
- Helping the peoples and their family who are
working in Public Relations
- Taking any work step that can help to achieve
the aims and objectives of this Association
- fund creating with the help of fees and
donation
